A dramatic aerial battle unfolds in the skies above Cloud City, with the sunset casting a golden glow over the floating metropolis. The Millennium Falcon soars through the fiery orange clouds, dodging green laser blasts from pursuing TIE Fighters. Nearby, a twin-pod cloud car engages in combat, while explosions erupt from smaller floating structures. In the background, a massive Star Destroyer looms over the battlefield, reinforcing the Imperial presence. The iconic disc-shaped central platform of Cloud City stands prominently in the distance, surrounded by scattered floating buildings. The scene is intense and action-packed, capturing a high-stakes conflict in the Star Wars universe. The bottom left corner contains a copyright notice from Lucasfilm and Disney, indicating this is official concept art.

Star Wars fans, get ready to jump to lightspeed! A brand-new mission is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, and trust us—you won’t want to miss it. Mando & Grogu Join Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in 2026, bringing an exciting new adventure that will immerse guests in the world of The Mandalorian. Mark your calendars, because this thrilling addition lands on May 22, 2026!

A Story-Driven Experience Like No Other

Announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and further detailed at SXSW, this update is a dream come true for Star Wars fans. Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, shared how Disney’s unique storytelling capabilities allow fans to experience stories across multiple formats—from TV screens to movies, and now, into the heart of Disney Parks.

A desert landscape with towering red rock formations under a bright sunlit sky. In the foreground, a massive, rust-colored Sandcrawler moves across the sandy terrain, its large treads kicking up dust. Small figures, likely Jawas, are seen near the base of the vehicle. In the background, atop a rocky plateau, there is a tall, industrial-looking structure with antennas and other mechanical elements protruding from it. The scene has a warm, dusty atmosphere, evoking the classic Star Wars setting of Tatooine. The bottom right corner contains a copyright notice from Lucasfilm and Disney, indicating this is an official concept art piece

A vast space scene featuring the wreckage of a massive, partially destroyed spherical structure resembling a Death Star from Star Wars. The debris field is filled with remnants of large starships, with some appearing heavily damaged and corroded. A planet with blue oceans and white clouds is visible in the background, partially illuminated by a distant light source. TIE Fighters and an X-Wing fly among the floating wreckage, adding to the sense of a post-battle graveyard in space. The scene has a dark, ominous atmosphere, with detailed textures of metal and decay. The bottom right corner contains a copyright notice from Lucasfilm and Disney, marking this as an official concept art piece

This new mission on Smugglers Run won’t be a direct retelling of the upcoming Mandalorian movie, but instead, a parallel adventure happening just off-screen from the film. That means guests will experience an original storylinewoven into the larger Star Wars narrative, making every ride a fresh and thrilling journey!

New Destinations & Familiar Faces

With input from The Mandalorian creative team, Disney Imagineers have designed an adventure that will transport guests to legendary Star Wars locations—including a potential visit to Cloud City! The attraction will feature scenes captured directly from the movie set, ensuring an immersive experience like never before.

But that’s not all! The BDX droids, first seen in Disneyland, are set to appear in Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris, before making their feature film debut. And to keep those droids in top shape, an Anzellan droid specialist (yes, the same adorable creature seen in The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian) will be around to make sure everything runs smoothly—just try not to make him cranky!

A small, bipedal droid with a boxy white and red body stands on a sandy, textured surface. The droid has a rectangular head with two antennas, multiple circular sensors or lights on the front, and a slightly tilted posture, giving it an expressive appearance. Its legs are mechanical with exposed joints, and its feet are red with a worn, utilitarian design. In the background, a large, weathered metallic structure with pipes and hoses is partially visible, suggesting an industrial or desert environment. The scene is sunlit, casting long shadows on the ground, enhancing the realism and texture of the setting. The droid’s design and environment suggest it is from the Star Wars universe.”
